Sebastian is an engineer and open-source maintainer with a PhD in Computer Science (Human–Computer Interaction) from Uppsala University. He builds tech for AI workflows and agents, and is active in the Boston AI community as a speaker at PyData Boston, AI Tinkerers, and Mindstone.
His open-source work includes helping scale ImageIO, a foundational Python imaging library, from roughly 2 million to 35 million monthly downloads. He also co-founded PyData Stockholm. Professionally he has worked across data platforms and product (including Schibsted’s Pulse behavioral-data platform), scientific software, and research. His focus is first-principles GenAI systems—agents, tool-calling, MCP, and durable application loops.
